All India Football Federation (AIFF) acting general secretary, Sunando Dhar has confirmed that Sports Minister, Anurag Thakur had assured visiting FIFA Director of Tournaments, Jaime Yarza the full support of the Indian Government in its bid to make the upcoming FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup success during a meeting on Wednesday.

Yarza is currently on an inspection visit to assess the preparations for the 2022 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup India which is scheduled to be held in India and he met with the concerned authorities to ensure that everything is going according to plan.

“It was a very fruitful visit, and Shri Anurag assured us that the Government of India will go out of the way to provide all required support for the tournament to be an overwhelming success. We intend to carry forward together the legacy of the FIFA U17 World Cup held in 2017, and we are immensely grateful to the Government of India and FIFA for their support and guidance,” Dhar said in a press release by AIFF.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the FIFA 2022 Under-17 Women’s World Cup recently launched Volunteer Programme with the showpiece event scheduled to take place across Bhubaneswar, Goa and Navi Mumbai in India between October 11 and 30.
