How Brentford’s latest signing could cause issues for FPL David Raya owners

Brentford are closing in on the signing of Thomas Strakosha from Lazio, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The goalkeeper has already signed his contract and the deal is just waiting to be officially confirmed.

The Alainabian has been a top shot-stopper in Italy for some time and he will now make his dream move to the Premier League.

David Raya the third most selected FPL goalkeeper.

Currently, Brentford’s number one, David Raya, is the third most selected goalkeeper on FPL.

14.1% of FPL managers have selected the Spaniard.

He is a great value choice at just 4.5m, especially after his strong form during the last campaign.

But, the arrival of Thomas Strakosha throws a potential spanner in the works.

Raya is now no longer a guaranteed starter, with Strakosha likely to be pushing for a place in the line-up.

It is possible that the Bees are succession planning by signing Strakosha, with doubts over Raya’s future.

The 26-year-old is yet to agree on a new contract with the west London club.

His current deal still has two years left to run on it, but Brentford may be lining up a possible sale.

Raya alternatives?

Brighton’s Robert Sánchez is the man David Raya owners could turn to if they decide not to take a risk sticking with the Spaniard.

Sánchez was one of the best cheap, performing shot-stoppers on the game last season and is once again 4.5m this year.

The Seagulls also have a nice run of fixtures after Manchester United on the opening day.

Jordan Pickford is another 4.5m alternative and Everton have four green fixtures after Chelsea at home in their first match.

José Sá at 5.0m is also a good value option, especially given Wolves’ opening six fixtures.
