Manchester United will look to continue their positive start to pre-season when they face Melbourne Victory on Friday.

The Red Devils began life under new boss Erik ten Hag with a 4-0 thumping of rivals Liverpool in Bangkok, with Jadon Sancho and Facundo Pellestri among the scorers.

The Victory’s domestic season doesn’t start until October. They finished second in the 2021/22 A-League regular season but were dumped out in the finals series by eventual champions Wester United in the semi finals.

Here’s what you need to know about the game.

Cristiano Ronaldo remains absent from the squad. Manager Erik ten Hag revealed United still want to keep the Portugal striker, who is looking for a route away from Old Trafford.

Harry Maguire has recovered from a knock and is in line to play, with most members of the touring party expected to get minutes throughout the game.

Manchester United pre-season squad

Nani has just signed for Melbourne Victory on a two-year deal and has revealed he hopes to play against his former side.

He said: “I would like to. I don’t know. Obviously, I just arrived in the country and it’s a long flight. There are a lot of things to do to prepare. First of all, the body must be ready to compete because you want to give 100 per cent.

“As a player, I always want to play so give me five minutes and I will be ready! Let’s see. I need to work and prepare to be ready.”

United brushed off the cobwebs in emphatic style to beat a disorganised Liverpool side on Tuesday and will fancy their chances of making it two wins from two games on Friday.

While Melbourne are no mugs and did well in the 2021/22 A-League season, United should have the individual quality to record another victory.

Score prediction: Manchester United 4-1 Melbourne Victory
