Major League Soccer‘s rivalry week has so far seen some of the most fierce goals of the 2022 campaign.

Julian Carranza kicked off strong, scoring a hat-trick against D.C. United to inspire the Philadelphia Union’s 7-0 victory, while, over on the West, Roger Espinoza fired a rocket to triumph 2-1 over CF Montreal.

Here’s this edition of goals of the week…

To kick off, we have New York City’s Gabriel Pereira vs. the New England Revolution. The player managed NYCFC’s fourth and final goal to triumph 4-2 over the visiting side. It was a stunning display by the winger, dancing around the Revolution’s defense before taking a lethal turn to set himself up for the right-footed shot into the bottom left corner of the goal.

Romell Quioto makes the list after opening up the scoring against Sporting Kansas City in the 13th minute. Though his efforts were not enough to win the game for the Canadian MLS side, his goal still earns a place on this list.

The player connected with teammate Lassi Lappalainen perfectly to head the ball into the top left corner, and score his seventh of the season. He’s managed three assists and seven goals in 17 appearances in the 2022 campaign, slowly climbing his way into the Golden Boot race.

Andre Shinyashiki topped Charlotte FC’s 4-1 victory over Nashville SC on Saturday, scoring the final goal in the 91st minute of the match.

The player managed the right-footed shot from just outside the box, to find the top left corner and leave Nashville SC goalkeeper Joe Willis stunned in the process. Willis attempted to make the save, but there was no stopping Shinyashiki’s strike.

Roger Espinoza’s stunning strike equalized the score against CF Montreal in the 29th minute. He completed the left-footed shot from more than 40-yards out to find the bottom right corner and inspire the comeback.

It was a much-needed win for Sporting Kansas City, as they work to boost their ranking in the Western Conference table. Previously in last place, the team now sits in 13th place with 19 points in 20 games and a record of 5W-11L-4D.

And at the top of the list: Julian Carranza’s first goal against D.C. United.

The Philadelphia Union player managed a bicycle kick goal from inside the box to double the score for the Eastern Conference side in a sight to see. The 7-0 victory sees the Union tied at the top of the table with the New York Red Bulls at 33 points each.
