Julian Nagelsmann shuts down links to interest in Man United star Cristiano Ronaldo

Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann ruthlessly dismissed any notion that the Bundesliga giants would make a play for wantaway Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

In quotes sourced by The Mirror, Nagelsmann spoke to BILD’s Christian Falk earlier today and wasted no time in putting to bed any lingering rumors that the Bavarians could be in for the Man United center-forward.

“I read that too, but that’s not true,” Nagelsmann said, leaving no question as to whether the record German champions could still maneuver themselves into the fray in order to capture the Portuguese great ahead of a long-list of other top-level clubs currently in the queue despite the impending loss of Polish star Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona.

That list is said to include Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, AS Roma, and SSC Napoli at the very least after Ronaldo made known his intentions to leave United this summer despite the arrival of Erik ten Hag from Dutch giants AFC Ajax, should the Red Devils receive a suitable offer from an approaching club.

It was an unexpected turn of events this summer after Ten Hag planned to include Ronaldo as a valuable piece of the new regime under his command at United, which has not stopped Russian Premier League outfit Spartak Moscow from poking fun at the current state of affairs in the northwest of England from the club’s official Twitter account.

Despite Ronaldo remaining hopeful of a move away from United before the window closes, a distinct lack of suitable offers on the table from any potential destination is likely to mean that Europe’s all-time leading goalscorer will be a Red Devil for the upcoming 2022-23 Premier League season.
