England manager Sarina Wiegman will be in the dugout for her side’s Women’s Euro 2022 quarter-final meeting with Spain on Wednesday night after testing negative for Covid-19.
Wiegman was forced to watch the Lionesses’ emphatic victory over Northern Ireland on Friday from afar after becoming the latest high-profile football figure to test positive for the virus.
In her recent press conference, she had insisted she was feeling fit and well and it has since been confirmed that she has recovered.
“England Head Coach Sarina Wiegman has tested negative for Covid. Wiegman will now return to all elements of her role and will take her place on the bench for tonight’s Quarter Final against Spain at the Brighton & Hove Community Stadium,” a statement read.
England have been in superb form in the tournament so far, netting 14 times without reply in the group stages to set up the quarter-final tie with Spain.
Meanwhile, La Roja finished second in Group B, beating Denmark late on during the final matchday to ensure their progression to the knockout stages.
Kick off is at 8pm at the Amex Stadium, the same stadium at which England smashed Norway 8-0 last week.
