Wolves are reportedly interested in signing Stuggart left-back Borna Sosa, and the Croatia international could be an excellent addition to Bruno Lage’s side this summer.

What’s the word?

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, a number of clubs are interested in signing the 24-year-old, with Wolves, Chelsea, Manchester City and Bayern Munich among those name-checked.

He suggests that the defender will be allowed to leave for just £20m and would “thrive” in a three-at-the-back system, which of course would make him a good fit in Lage’s team.

Jacobs also writes: “Sosa has struggled with injuries but is a dynamic left-back or wingback who is full of assists, including one that sent Croatia to the World Cup. Has an excellent delivery and is confident in tight spaces. Strong acceleration over short distances.”

He added: “No official bids for Sosa just yet. But he’s being watched by a number of top clubs. Dortmund and Leeds two others who, like Chelsea, have scoured him historically but chose not to make a move. Stuttgart won’t stop Sosa leaving this window.”

Lage’s dream signing?

Considering Raul Jimenez was Wolves’ top creator in the Premier League in 2021/22 with just four assists, it is clear that Wolves need some new additions next season if they want to rectify their goalscoring issues.

Should Wolves try and sign Sosa?

The Old Gold managed just 38 goals in the top flight last season, which was the fewest of any team to avoid relegation, which emphasises the need for new signings ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Last season saw Sosa manage eight assists in just 28 Bundesliga appearances, averaging an impressive 7.02 rating from WhoScored for his performances, which goes to show what he could offer to Lage next season if he comes to the Black Country.

At 24, there is still plenty of time for Sosa to adjust to the Premier League and develop even further, and he would fit in Lage’s mould of signing younger players.

Therefore, the 46-year-old should do everything that he can to bring Sosa to Molineux this summer.
