NBA great Charles Barkley has won a lot of fans this week by claiming that victims of homophobic or transphobic abuse should take no nonsense from their abusers, and instead tell them where to go.

Barkley, who was the NBA’s MVP in 1993, made a name for himself during his stint when he played for Philadelphia 76ers.

The Alabama native has since gone on to become an impressive pundit, even earning himself four Sports Emmy Awards.

A recent interview Barkley further endeared himself to the public when he defended members of the LGBTQ community.

“I want to say this,” Barkley said at the 2022 American Century Championship golf tournament. “If you’re gay or transgender, I love you.

“Hey, and if anybody gives you sh*t, you tell them Charles said, ‘f*** you!’.”

The former basketball star also shared his views on what it’s like to be black in America.

“I think anytime you’re black, you’ve got to stand up for other people,” Barkley said.

“Black people know what discrimination is like. If you’re in a position of power, you’ve got to always stand up against discrimination. I’ve been blessed.”
