The Charlotte HornetsMiles Bridges is facing the end of his fledgling NBA career following his arrest for alleged domestic violence.

The six-foot-two 24-year-old forward was arrested a fortnight ago on domestic abuse charges. Bridges allegedly beat his wife, Mychelle Johnson, in the presence of their two young children.

Johnson shared the abuse on social media, posting images of her injuries along with a medical report.

Bridges has pleaded not guilty to three counts of felony domestic violence, but this is just the tip of the iceberg with litigation set to go on for a long time.

The player, who recently received an offer to extend his contract with the Hornets, led the team in scoring last season.

The final verdict could see the player end up in prison. According to Steve Reed of the Associated Press, Bridges faces up to 11 years and eight months in prison if convicted of the charges.

Bridges has been embroiled in a series of controversies in the past. However, the latest accusations are by far the most serious of them all.

The player, who is also a rapper in his spare time, could see his career ended, with the outcome of the trial having serious consequences.

Bridges’ future is in doubt

Several teams had been interested in acquiring Bridges‘ services, though eventually the player decided to resign with the Hornets. However, with these new allegations those plans have been put on the back burner.

It is also possible that the Hornets could terminate their agreement with Bridges though ultimately with a lengthy legal process only time will tell what the future holds.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 19.
