Two favourites for this year’s Champions League, Bayern Munich and Manchester City, face off in a pre-season friendly in Wisconsin on Sunday.

Each side kicked off their respective US tours with a win, with Bayern defeating D.C. United 6-2, while City beat Club America 2-1 thanks to a Kevin De Bruyne brace.

Both managers will be keen to test their players against sterner opposition in Green Bay this weekend as this is their last warm-up bout before the season gets going properly.

Bayern Munich team news vs Man City

Julian Nagelsmann will likely select a strong starting XI ahead of their DFL-Supercup tie against RB Leipzig on Sunday.

New signings Sadio Mane, Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui should be on show, and it will be interesting to see who is deployed at centre-forward in the absence of Robert Lewandowski.

Bayern Munich pre-season squad: Manuel Neuer, Noussair Mazraoui, Tanguy Nianzou, Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies, Lucas Copado, Marcel Sabitzer, Gabriel Vidovic, Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Sadio Mane, Joshua Zirkzee, Kingsley Coman, Joshua Kimmich, Paul Warner, Ryan Gravenberch, Thomas Muller, Benjamin Pavard, Josip Stanisic, Lucas Hernandez, Matthijs de Ligt, Sven Ulreich, David Herold

(4-3-3): Neuer; Mazraoui, Nianzou, Upamecano, Davies; Copado, Sabitzer, Vidovic; Sane, Müller, Gnabry

Man City team news vs Bayern Munich

Man City have a few big names missing, with Phil Foden, John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan all sitting out of the tour due to entry restrictions.

Aymeric Laporte did not travel either, but this is due to an injury. New signing Erling Haaland will be eager to open his scoring account, while Oleksandr Zinchenko has left the group to seal a move to Arsenal.

Man City pre-season squad: Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, Kalvin Phillips, Nathan Ake, Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish, Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, Stefan Ortega, Julian Alvarez, Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez, Joao Cancelo, Ederson, Scott Carson, Liam Delap, Kayky, Luke Mbete, Cole Palmer, James McAtee, Josh Wilson-Esbrand, Oscar Bobb, Rico Lewis, Finley Burns, Ben Knight

(4-3-3): Ortega; Walker, Ake, Mbete-Tabu, Cancelo; Silva, Rodri, De Bruyne; Mahrez, Haaland, Grealish

On paper, this is a fascinating encounter.

Both of these teams have had significant transfer windows both in terms of incomings and outcomings, though they each start the season as runaway favourites in their domestic leagues.

Expect some questionable defending as it’s pre-season, which could lead to a high-scoring draw to please the crowd.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 2-2 Man City
