Some households are eligible to receive a state approved tax credit of $250 per child, with up to three children per family, but the deadline to apply is July 31.
The Connecticut Governor’s office informed NBC Connecticut that they have around 130,000 available applications, since they have an eligibility capacity of 300,000 families.
So they’re urging their residents to fill out their application for their tax credit this week and receive up to $750 in tax breaks immediately.

United Way assists you with your application process
United Way is an organization helping Connecticut residents apply for their Child Tax Credit.
They encourage everyone that meets the following guidelines to approach them, single filers have a $100,000 limit, while for a head of household it’s a maximum of $160,000, while married couples filing jointly can reach $200,000 at the most.
If you earned over these marks you’re still available to receive a rebate, but it will reduce 10% for every $1,000 that you earned over the thresholds.
When will payments start to go out?
Governor Lamont expects the payments to go out as soon as next month, with the state receiving between 2,000 and 3,000 applications each day, a number they expect to grow exponencially as the deadline approaches.
Any resident of Connecticut, who’s a parent and have previously claimed a child 18 or younger in their 2021 taxes is eligible to get this child tax credit.
There’s currently no plan to extend the programs deadline beyond July 31st.
