Keylor Navas is going through a very difficult time with his future at PSG up in the air, and with the change of coach, the Costa Rican wanted to prove he could be a starter.

The Parisian side picked up their third win of the pre-season today against Urawa Reds, with goals from Pablo Sarabia, Kylian Mbappe and Arnaud Kalimuendo and a superb performance from Keylor Navas.

However, in the press conference after the friendly, his coach Christopher Galtier delivered a harsh message to the goalkeeper.

“I know Keylor Navas is very frustrated about the situation, but I trust him as our second goalkeeper,” he argued.

Under contract until 2024

Keylor Navas, 35, has a contract with PSG until 2024 and his intention was to honour it.

However, this new situation could lead to a twist in the script and if a good offer comes in, the French side will allow the goalkeeper to leave and get playing time.

According to Le Parisien, the rotation of goalkeepers last season could have been detrimental to Gianluigi Donnarumma‘s level in decisive matches, so this year a drastic decision has been taken since the beginning of the season.

With his sights set on the World Cup in Qatar next November, Navas wants to arrive in full physical condition and with a high level of competition in what is likely to be his last World Cup.

If he ends up staying at PSG, he would only play cup games, something unthinkable for the Costa Rican.
