Wrexham have attracted a lot of attention since American actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney decided to take over the club back in 2021.
Their primary objective has been to return to the English Football League (EFL), but the Welsh side narrowly missed out on promotion in their first season at the club.
The first season of the series ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ instantly became popular, with the team attracting fans from all around the world.
This year, Phil Parkinson‘s men are considered favourites to clinch promotion if they manage to remain consistent until the end of the campaign.
Although they currently sit second in the National League table, Wrexham are level on points with leaders Notts County and they have two games in hand. Meanwhile, Wrexham will host Notts County in less than 10 days in a game that could help them clinch promotion.
What does Ryan Reynolds’ team need to be promoted in 2023?
Should Wrexham win their two games in hand and come out victorious from the duel against Notts County, they could win the league on April 15 at Barnet with three games to go.
This will be the first time they will feature in the EFL League Two since 2007/08, when they finished bottom of the table and were relegated to the Conference National.
“The lads are really focused, they don’t get carried away with anything and just keep working on the training pitch,” Parkinson said on Friday.
“We purely concentrate on what we do on the field and on the training pitch. Standards are very high here and we’re looking to maintain those standards again this weekend.”
